Dungeon Inn Demo vs Full Game

The thing people call the demo is Dungeon Inn Prologue: The First Hustle, a separate free Steam product released in October 2024 that covered the opening month of the inn. Its store page now states it is no longer available. Version 1.0 is the paid full game; anyone who owned the Early Access version received it at no extra cost, and Early Access saves carry over automatically.

Three different products have been called a demo at different points, and the difference decides whether you can play anything for free today.

The three things people mean

Name What it is Status
The original demo A Steam demo updated through 2023 and 2024 Superseded; no current listing found
Dungeon Inn Prologue: The First Hustle A separate free product, app 3187630 Store says no longer available
Early Access The paid build from November 2024 to October 2026 Replaced by 1.0, owners upgraded free

What the Prologue actually was

It launched on 25 October 2024 as a free standalone product. The announcement describes it as the opening month of Sara’s inn, with the first trial week as its centre, and it says the Prologue was built on the foundations of the demo build with improved art, sound design and interface, plus an end-of-prologue animation introducing a new character.

That description is why “is the demo the same as the full game” has no single answer. The Prologue was a rebuilt slice, not a truncated copy of the campaign, and the campaign it previewed has since changed underneath it: the Fame system was rebuilt in 2026, companion skills and the Suites arrived, and the story gained chapters 10 to 12.

What 1.0 adds over any earlier build

From the launch announcement: chapters 10 to 12, a new Blizzard mechanic, an overhauled Fame system, 90 unique adventurer events, 16 new Master Adventurers, and a Story Mode of around twenty hours. From the FAQ: 32 Steam achievements and Challenge Mode under Extras.

Buying and ownership

  • If you owned Early Access: 1.0 arrived at no additional cost, with all new content included.
  • If you are buying now: 1.0 is the product. The launch price was $14.99 with a 20% discount for the first two weeks; pricing changes with region and sale, so check the store rather than a guide.
  • If you owned the Prologue: the announcement does not describe an upgrade path from the Prologue, and the store page no longer offers it. Ownership of a delisted free prologue is not described anywhere as granting the full game.

Saves

Early Access saves carry over automatically — both the announcement and the FAQ say so, and the FAQ supplies a chapter 1-9 S-rank save for anyone who wants to jump to chapter 10.

Prologue and demo saves are a different question, and the official material does not answer it. This page will not guess: the carryover statement is specifically about Early Access.

What to do if you are deciding today

If the attraction was the free slice, there is no current free slice to check. If the attraction was the game itself, the honest entry point is the store page, the two-minute trailer on the home page, and this site’s beginner guide — which describes the loop in enough detail to know whether the systems appeal before you buy.

Straight answers

Questions this page leaves you with.

Short answers that stay inside the evidence collected for this task.

Can I still download the free Prologue?

The Prologue's Steam page currently says it is no longer available. This site has not found an official statement that a replacement demo exists.

Do I have to buy the game twice if I owned Early Access?

No. The 1.0 announcement and FAQ both state that Early Access owners receive all full-release content at no additional cost.

Will my demo save carry over to 1.0?

That is not published. The official carryover statement is about Early Access saves, and it does not mention Prologue or demo saves.
